It’s like Lord of the Rings. XD

Well, the Ring is the only actual thing that resembles LotR - well that and dwarves - but it’s absolute high fantasy, with awesome music, epic plot that takes the world from one age to another

Lust for power, a Ring that everyone wants… Gods and Goddesses, Awesome flying female warriors, Dwarves, eventually Men who overthrow the old order…. And there’s even a magic helmet that makes you invisible. ;)

So Odin is pretty much the only one who trusts Loki to save Freya from an unfortunate deal they’ve brokered with the giants (you’d know them as Jotuns/Frost giants), the others call him a liar and think he’s untrustworthy. But oopsiedaisies:

He comes up with an idea to get rid of the pesky giants who want Freya as their reward for building Valhalla, that is, tells them about the ring. Well they get excited but they’re too lazy to hunt after it themselves, and tell Odin they’ll hold Freya hostage until he brings them the ring, and they steal her away. Derp.

And double oops: when Freya’s taken away, everyone falls down, their power lost, because Freya’s apples are the one thing that has been keeping them young and strong.

But she didn’t give them to Loki so often, because she didn’t like him. And he’s only half-god. So suddenly Loki’s the strong one, and the only one who can help those self-righteous asses. Mwahahah.

“You relied too much on those apples, and the giants new it! What will you do now?!” XD

Loki has awesome hand lights btw. ^^

Here’s a link to the met’s official site for the production (they’re doing it again this year). I’m not entirely sure where you might be able to view the series, but it might be available on DVD or sth. :) Libraries tend to get these things, which might be an idea, because they can be really expensive to buy. X_X
